Our Disaster Event Managers

Jim spent 30 years as a police officer and during his service was involved in emergency planning, business continuity and communications projects. He worked in the Information Room at New Scotland Yard supervising 999 call handling, dispatch of resources and initial management of serious incidents. He was responsible for business continuity planning and testing in the Information Room and for overseeing projects involving changes to IT, equipment and room layout.

As a consultant and trainer in business continuity in both public and private sectors he was able to bring to bear a wide knowledge and experience of both business continuity and emergency planning. A particular specialisation has been writing, testing and exercising of crisis management plans, including setting up, testing and exercising disaster recovery rooms and sites. He is a full member of both the Business Continuity Institute and the Emergency Planning Society.

Lin joined the team in January 2015 after a career of 31 years with both Cumbria Constabulary and Greater Manchester Police. Lin worked in a vast array of posts both in uniform and plain clothes and included a two year secondment to The Youth Justice Board in London where she was a police advisor on matters of legislation and its impact on young people.

Her career highlight came in 2008 when she was awarded a Royal Humane Society Certificate on Parchment for her part in rescuing an elderly man from a house fire. Lin was responsible for business continuity for the force performance team and took part in table top exercises and relocation plans, should the Force HQ require physical re location. She retired in 2014 as an Inspector.

Lin is married with two children and enjoys fell walking with her two border terrier dogs. She enjoys all aspects of keeping fit and intends to take part in the Manchester 10k for the third time this year.

John retired from the Police service in 2011, after completing 34 years exemplary service. During his service he was trained by Government to advise the major public utilities and the oil and petro chemical industry on disaster recovery planning and target hardening initiatives. The last 10 years of his service were focussed on running and managing criminal investigations across the UK and Europe.

Since then John has been involved in working with a charity that rescues victims of Human trafficking.
