First Recovery was established in January 2003 as an independent, specialist provider of disaster recovery services to SMEs (small- to medium-sized enterprises).

Since then, the company has signed six contracts with three insurance companies, and operates throughout the UK and has recently expanded into Holland. Further contract wins are expected soon.

The company and its insurer partners have won a number of awards for its product, including:

The directors are:

Paul Jackson (45)

Paul is married with two teenage children and lives in South Moreton, Oxfordshire. He has been in sales and marketing in the IT sector for over 22 years, having been employed from 1989 to 1997 by P&P plc (now Computacenter plc), where he was Sales Director – Strategic Accounts, responsible for a large team of managers which acquired and maintained accounts with revenues of over £92m per year.

He joined Computer Associates, Inc. as Regional VP for Large Account Sales. After three years he left CA to start his own business, leading to the formation of First Recovery.

Mike Calloway (48)

Mike lives near Epsom in Surrey. He joined Eagle Star in 1976, working in both the London regional office and the Head Office in Threadneedle Street. He left in 1981 to join AIG Europe as an underwriter in their City office before being approached by CIGNA International, now ACE Europe in 1983 to join their underwriting team. He left at the end of 1995 as Manager of their UK Global Risk Management operations after being approached by AXA to establish their large risk underwriting subsidiary in the UK, AXA Global Risks.

In early 2000 he intended to join a Lloyds syndicate but instead decided to invest in a software company, Invent, providing work flow technology to the Lloyds insurance market. He and his partner successfully prepared the company for sale, which was achieved in September 2000 to a FTSE 350 company.

Bob Williams (58)

Bob is married with four children and lives near Bath. He has an honours degree in Economics. He spent two years with a West End firm of accountants before joining the Royal Navy where he served as an officer for six years. On leaving he joined Mannesmann in computer sales and rose to SW Regional Manager before starting his own software company. This was sold in 1995 and he has since invested and participated in a number of businesses including SkillSet Ltd where he remains a director.

Catriona Williams (43)

Catriona is the sister of Robert Williams. She has an honours degree in English and is divorced with two children, living in Farnham Surrey. Until recently, she was the managing director and founder of SkillSet Ltd., a change management and training consultancy. SkillSet was founded in 1991 and specialises in providing global solutions for companies such as BP, Nokia, ExxonMobil, Syngenta, Zurich, BAE, ING and Toshiba. Prior to SkillSet, Catriona set up the services division for Microtex, part of MBS plc.
